Après avoir reçu la visite sur notre stand de monsieur Tôru Furuya – la voix d’Amuro Ray dans Gundam, mais aussi de Seiya dans Saint Seiya ! – lors du festival Cartoonist (20 et 21 avril 2013 à Nice), c’est avec plaisir que nous partageons avec vous le récit de son voyage paru dans le mensuel japonais Gundam ACE (numéro daté d’août 2013).
Une nouvelle fois, nous tenons à remercier M. Furuya de sa gentillesse et de sa disponibilité.

Samedi 20 avril
Je devais commencer une séance de dédicaces à 11 heures, en compagnie de la voix française de Seiya, Eric Legrand, de chanteurs de génériques d’anime et d’autres invités. Mais comme la séance des auteurs juste avant nous a pris du retard, nous avons été décalés sur le créneau de midi, et j’en ai profité pour faire un interview avec la chaîne Nolife, sous le regard des cosplayers qui entraient dans le festival.
Eric, dont la popularité était aussi grande que celle des invités japonais présents, a aussi joué Yamcha dans Dragonball ! J’ai découvert avec surprise qu’il avait aussi incarné Végéta, mais il s’est révélé être quelqu’un de très amical et m’a même exprimé ses remerciements avec un très grand respect.
Dimanche 21 avril
A midi, j’ai fait une interview avec la radio en ligne « Nihon no oto ». Ils connaissaient visiblement bien mon travail et nous avons discuté en détail des conditions dans lesquelles j’ai participé à « Casshern Sins », de l’adaptation animée de « Gundam The Origin » ou encore de la véracité des faits rapportés dans le manga « Gundam Sôsei ». C’était vraiment très intéressant.
A 14h, nous avons commencé avec Eric une grande conférence dans l’amphithéâtre. A cette occasion, j’ai scandé « Pegasus ryûsei ken / Les météores de Pégase » en français, et il l’a fait en japonais ! La bonne humeur d’Eric a fait de cette conférence un très bon moment. Ce qui m’a surpris au cours de cette discussion, c’est la différence qu’il y a entre le Japon et la France concernant le doublage, au point que les Français arrivent à doubler six épisodes par jour ! En plus, ils ne jouent pas avec un livret de dialogues sous les yeux, mais en lisant les répliques qui défilent sous l’écran, un peu comme des sous-titres. Du coup, Eric me disait qu’il avait bien envie de doubler au rythme japonais et d’avoir des livrets comme les nôtres.
Après avoir participé à la conférence suivante au côté de Shiori Teshirogi, l’auteur de « Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas », je suis allé jouer les jurés pour le concours de maquettes Gundam organisé par l’AEUG, l’association des fans de Gundam français. A cette occasion, j’ai remis au vainqueur un trophée en forme de Gundam doré ainsi qu’une maquette Perfect Grade du RX-78. J’ai moi-même reçu en cadeau de la part de leur président des bouteilles de vin en guise de souvenir.

After Mr Tohru Furuya – the voice of Amuro Ray in Gundam and Seiya in Saint Seiya – payed us a visit at the Cartoonist festival (April 20-21 in Nice), we are glad to share with you the report he wrote about his journey in France, published in the monthly Gundam ACE (August issue).

April 20 (Sat)
I was supposed to start this day’s signing session at 11, together with Seiya’s French voice actor, Eric Legrand, anime singers and others guests. But since the signing session before us got late, we were finally scheduled to noon and therefore I had the chance to record an interview with the TV channel “Nolife” right at the entrance of the festival, where cosplayers were gathering.
Eric was as popular as all the other Japanese guests. Like me, he played Yamcha in Dragonball… And even Vegeta! I was very surprised of this, but Eric has been very friendly and expressed his thanks with great respect.
April 21 (Sun)
At noon, I recorded an interview with the Net radio “Nihon no oto”. They knew a lot about my career and we discussed the details of my participation in “Casshern Sins”, the coming-soon anime version of “Gundam The Origin” and even wether the facts reported in “Gundam Sousei” manga were true or not. In the end, it was a very very interesting moment.
At 2 PM, together with Eric, we started the panel in the main theater. There I yelled Seiya’s attack “Pegasus ryuusei ken” in French (“Les météores de Pégase”) and so did Eric in Japanese! His cheerfulness has made this panel a very pleasant time. As we discussed, I have been very surprised of how Japanese and French ways of dubbing are different – the French can record six episodes a day! And they don’t play with a booklet in their hand but read the dialogue as it slides under the screen right at the time it is supposed to be said, like subtitles. As a result, Eric said that he was a little jealous of the slower Japanese pace of recording and of our booklets.
After I had took part in the following panel, with “Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas” author Shiori Teshirogi, I went to act as the main judge in the Gundam model kit contest held by the AEUG, the organization of the French Gundam fans. There I awarded a golden Gundam trophy and a Perfect Grade RX-78 model to the winner. The president of the AEUG also gave me some wine as a souvenir from France.

４月２０日（土）
１１時からのサイン会は僕一人ではなく、フフンス人の星矢役の声優、エリック・ルグランやアニソン歌手達など、ほかのゲストも一緒だったのだが、漫画家の先生たちのサインが会予定時間を１時間もオーバーしてしまい１２時からになったため、先にNOLIFE-TVの取材を受けることになった。いわゆるワイドショーのような番組、会場の入口でコスフレをした入場者たちが興味津々と見守る中、インタビューを受けた。
声優のエリックは、日本からのゲスト同様に人気があり、星矢だけでなくヤムチャもやっていた！ なんとベジータの声もやっているというのには驚いたが、 とてもフレンドリーで僕のことを非常に尊敬し、感謝していると言ってくれた。
４月２１日（日）
１２時かは「Nihon no Oto」というネットラジオの取材。良く僕の仕事を調べていて「キャシャーンSins」のキャーシャーン役を演じたいきさつや、「機動戦士ガンダム」についても「ジ・オリジン」のアニメ化、「ガンダム創世」の真偽など、とても興味深そうだった。
１４時からはメインホールでエリックと二人でトークンョー！「ベガサス流星拳」を僕がフランス語で、彼が日本語で披露したり、とても陽気で気さくなエリックのおかげで楽しいステージとなった。驚いたのは日本とフランスのアフレコの違いで、フランスでは一人ずつの収録で１日に６話分もこなしてしまうとのこと！台本はなく、字幕のようにスクリーンの下に表示される台詞を見ながら喋るのだそうだ。事前に台本を貰える日本のやり方が羨ましいと言っていた。
「聖闘士星矢 冥王神話」の漫画家、手代木史織先生のトークステージにも参加し、続いては「AEUG」というフランスのガンダムファンクラブ主催のガンプラコンテストの審査で、優勝作品の製作者にRX７８の金色のトロフィとパーフェクトグレードのガンダムを贈呈。僕もお土産に会長お勧めの紅白ワインを戴いた。
